Pay Rate: Starting at $20+ per hour based on experience, certifications, and skill level. Advanced technicians may earn $30+ per hour.

Position Summary

The Automotive Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of vehicles while delivering exceptional workmanship and customer service. Depending on experience and qualifications, technicians will perform routine maintenance, intermediate repairs, or advanced diagnostics and major mechanical repairs. Experienced technicians may also mentor junior team members and support efficient shop operations.

Essential Responsibilities

Diagnostics & Repairs

• Perform mechanical, electrical, and drivability diagnostics using scan tools and manufacturer-specific diagnostic equipment.
• Complete routine maintenance and mechanical repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, engine performance, and drivability repairs.
• Perform advanced repairs such as engine work, transmission replacements, electrical repairs, module programming, and system calibrations based on experience.
• Troubleshoot and resolve vehicle performance concerns accurately and efficiently.
• Conduct road tests to verify repair quality and vehicle performance.

Shop Operations & Teamwork

• Collaborate with service advisors and technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
• Assist with complex repairs while continuing to develop technical skills.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians when qualified.
• Maintain productivity while meeting company quality standards.

Documentation & Quality

• Accurately document inspections, diagnoses, repairs, and recommendations.
• Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer specifications, company standards, and safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Properly operate and maintain shop equipment and diagnostic tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of professional automotive repair experience preferred.
• 5+ years of experience and ASE certifications strongly preferred for advanced-level technicians.
• Completion of an accredited automotive technology program preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, braking, steering, suspension, engine performance, and drivability systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair automotive systems independently.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• ASE Certifications (A1–A8 and/or L1) are highly preferred.

• Proficiency with automotive diagnostic software, scan tools, and repair equipment.

• Leadership and mentoring abilities are a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, bend, kneel, squat, lift, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Comfortable working in a professional automotive repair facility with varying temperatures and noise levels.
• Must pass a background check.
• Must pass an oral drug test.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a full-time position in a professional automotive repair facility. Weekend availability may be required based on business needs and customer demand.
