Yard Laborer

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $16.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Yard Laborer to assist with daily yard operations, including the loading and unloading of barges and trucks. This is a hands-on, physically demanding position that requires experience working around and operating heavy equipment.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, reliable, comfortable working outdoors, and experienced in an industrial, construction, material-handling, or similar environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the loading and unloading of barges and trucks

• Valid driver's license required

• Operate and work safely around heavy equipment
• Move, stage, load, and organize materials throughout the yard
• Assist equipment operators and other team members during loading operations
• Inspect work areas and equipment for potential safety hazards
• Follow proper procedures for securing, handling, and transporting materials
• Maintain awareness of surroundings when working near trucks, barges, machinery, and moving equipment
• Perform general yard cleanup and keep work areas organized
• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and equipment guidelines
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, drivers, equipment operators, and other team members
• Perform routine checks of equipment before use and report maintenance or safety concerns
• Assist with other general labor and yard duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous heavy equipment experience required

• Previous experience in yard operations, material handling, construction, industrial work, shipping/receiving, or a similar environment preferred

• Comfortable working around trucks, barges, and large equipment

• Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the shift

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, stoop, push, pull, and lift as required

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions

• Strong understanding of workplace and equipment safety

• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

• Dependable attendance and punctuality

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

• Must be available to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
